Was the application of unit flashes common practice for the British and commonwealth countries , as I'm always very wary when I see these come up for sale, maybe I shouldn't be so in the future.
Great looking helmets you have posted tinlid.

There are a lot of fakes being produced at the moment, so beware, hence this thread.
The fakers are adverse to messing up a nice untouched helmet worth say £75-125 when they can pick up a cheap messed up one and repainting then add the flash. After a while you get to know how the flashes were applied, and what to look for regarding and aged helmet.
But it's not easy, a lot of head scratching sometimes before you take the plunge.

A fine collection and resource for collectors Aaron, great to see them.

Are you just wanting Army flashed lids here, or other services RAF/RN including home front units such as home guard and ARP etc?
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.
