WW2 British mk2 medic helmet?

Freinds, i just wondered if anybody has any thoughts on this mk2 I've found? I've trawled the forum but couldnt see anything quite lke it... shell and liner both 1940 dated, appears to have had a heavy texture top coat which has chipped in places. Is this correct for an army medic?
