439,441,635 and 642 bat's was met the US troops in the first day of D-day and was hit there. They was equipped mostly with old soviet weapon. Till the September 24 1944 the eastern bats lost there 8400 of the men

Never knew there where Russian reg's overhere! I live just outside of Perpignan, but I dont know where they where bassed then. There is a old concentration camp some 20 km from here, maybe they where there.

In that area they was attached to the 19 army of army group G, as a 3 or 4-th battailons in German regiments
Also 406 btl stay eastern from Lion and a take a part against a French partisans

Thank you for your info on that Dimas. Do you have more info about the location of the German troops around Perpignan? In my vilage it was very calm, no shooting or war, and they simply left when they where told the war was over, and Germany lost. They through there gear in the river and walked back home!
Like I said there is a concentration camp just close here, "Rivesaltes", but the guards where not German after the Vichy regime took over the south of France. It was a camp for jewish woman and children for transfert to Auschwitz.
I know some of SS Div Das Reich and Der Fuhrer was bassed here, a little to the west near Carcasonne june untill 1944 when they made there way up to Normandy, and stopped in Oradour sur Glane to kill the whole village.
