Suze is a French bitter brand of the Pernod Ricard group. This alcoholic beverage is prepared by distilling the roots of the Gentian lutea plant and mixing them with extracts of various aromatic herbs. It is normally taken as an aperitif and is used in cocktails (wiki cuote).

One of the good things, for a soldier, about invading Belgium, I imagine was being able to drink some of their good beers.
