Isenbeck is a local premium brand in Hamm and the surrounding area. This delicious drink became famous beyond the city limits and even excited the Great Elector.
Founded in 1769 by Albert Isenbeck, the brewery flourished rapidly. And until the late 1980s, a delicately bitter Pilsner was made in Hamm.
But Isenbeck doesn't just enjoy beer. The brewery also shaped the city's image. Starting in 1969, people greeted downtown residents with an oversized neon sign depicting a full and eventually overflowing glass of Pilsner.
Isenbeck has been a brand of the Warsteiner group since 1989 and is manufactured in Paderborn. As a sign of the connection with the city of Hamm, a huge Isenbeck vase now hangs as a symbol in the city center.

On September 1, 1939, war was declared with Germany. By June 15, 1940, Peugeot produced 23,833 vehicles (402, 202, DK5), largely for the French army and was about to produce the DMA: A light truck based on the mechanics of the 402B and with an advanced cabin especially intended for the French army.
The Sochaux plant is located just 15 km from the border with Germany, a relocation plan that moves the factories from Doubs to Bordeaux was carried out on June 14, 1940: a thousand trucks transport the parts and machinery to make them safe from a possible German invasion.
But it didn't take long for the Germans to defeat the French troops and occupy the country. After the defeat, the Peugeot company came under German control from the summer of 1940, production of passenger vehicles was suspended. The manufacturer, like many French companies, is forced to work in the occupier's war effort.
The DMA is practically ready, but it is too late. It is in this context that Peugeot begins to have "problems" to complete the development of DMA, a light truck of 2 useful tons initially planned to equip the French army, now non-existent. It is the German army that uses them as ambulances on the Russian front.
The Wehrmacht received at least 13,779 DMAs until September 1944. In the factory, workers reduce their productivity. Any excuse is good: lack of raw materials, delays in suppliers, shortage of grease for the machines. Machinery is damaged, car parts are sabotaged, older machines are used, with low performance.
Compared to 1939, production falls by 80%, the total production of vehicles during the duration of the occupation is lower than that of the period September 1939 - June 1940. Not only does production slow down, but the vehicles produced with porous joints, alloys unsuitable for certain elements. In short, 60% of DMA are unusable once they reach the Russian front. However, the Wehrmacht numbered at least 13,779 by September 1944.
