Dortmunder Actien Brauerei, popularly DAB, is a German beer brand created and manufactured in the city of Dortmund.
The original factory was founded in the city of Dortmund in 1868 and in 1872 it changed its name to "Dortmunder Actien Brauerei". In 1879, the company began to export its beer internationally, although after the outbreak of the First World War, beer production dropped significantly.
The factory, which had its own extensive railway connection for its transport and supply, was destroyed after the Allied bombings during World War II and was rebuilt in 1949.
It is known to be the favorite beer of Erich Honecker, the former East German leader.
