This is Hermann's Monument (Hermannsdenkmal) located in the Lippe district, North Rhine-Westphalia. It was erected in 1838-1875 to honor war chief Arminius (German-Cheruscan) who in 9 AD slaughtered 3 Roman legions totaling 20,000 men that were left to rot in the forest. Many proud soldiers probably had their photos taken here and gained motivation from this warrior's conquest.
For almost thirty years, my wife never tires of repeating to me: Dear: the person in the foreground and always at a sufficient distance, so that the entire monument is seen in the background of the image.
So there are no problems like the one in the photo you just uploaded.
By the way, they don't look like the sculptures on the door of Notre Dame in Paris .....

I agree-- i don't think it is Not Notre Dame either.
