Execution of a spy and sabateur
A piece of forgotten history from April, 1945. Richard Harczyk, a Pole working for the Germans was convicted of sabotage and murdering American soldiers behind the lines. He was convicted and shot by firing squad.

Actual surname of Polish origin was Jarczyk. Despite Polish surname he was an ethnic German Volksdeutsch. Held rank of obergefreiter (equivalent of corporal) in the 36th Volksgrenadier Division.

Gee Bob, what a way to start my peaceful Sunday morning ! Mom would tell me as a child "Don't think the American soldiers were saints as they are thought to be. They did plenty of cruel things too". Of course this was told to me while Dad was at work. After serving 4 years in Africa & Italy...last thing he wanted to hear.
But thanks for the video Bob

Your mother was a wise woman. Humans react differently than normal under war conditions. Being surrounded by maiming and death changes the mind's process. As was also the case with the captured German spies caught in American uniforms during the Bulge, firing squad was the normal way of dealing with spies.
