Default Help with Nuremberg Trials Ashtray

A local antiques dealer told me he has an ashtray that reads: "International Military Tribunal Nuremberg 1945". If it is genuine I would like to make him an offer, but I don't have an idea as to the value of such an item. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on the subject, especially what would be a fair price. Thanks in advance for your help. Uncle Paul

Without a photograph of said item it is impossible to give any sort of comment as to whether it is genuine or what price it may i'm afraid , without a photo an answer would be pure speculation !!

No photograph is available, so assume it is genuine and please feel free to speculate. I've never come across an ashtray associated with the Nuremberg
trials, has anyone ever heard of one?

I really cant see anyone having these made up at the time, there were far more important issues to worry about, they could have been done post war for GI souveneirs or just recently !!!!

maybe some kind of a commemoration piece? next he'll tell you Goering, or some other big wig Nazi official used it during the trial. whatever makes it sell.

I would speculate that the reason no photograph is available is because it's fake junk.

Hello Uncle Paul, Doing a quick Google sweep, about the only thing that comes up is a suspicious looking ashtray with a red interior and black body with the white and orange writing on the sides "International Military Tribune Nurnberg 1945" on it. The description doesn't give it a whole lot of credible feel but goes on to say that these were made for non-military personnel who attended the trials for souvenirs and that less than 100 were made. He even hinted that they May have been absurdly used by the Prisoners Themselves... The value of them is left unstated. Hmm.. Doesn't sound too kosher, to me.
