They are made before. It looks like summer. The wooden fence around the graves has not yet been built.

"I once had a comrade". Photos of graves of German soldiers.

Behind the tombs there are some steel beams piled up, as if some type of work was going to be done in the bunkers. We see a German soldier in a dark uniform and next to him a civilian, both observing the bunkers damaged by the fighting.

Behind the three crosses there is a wooden plank that no longer appears in the photos taken in winter with the wooden fence around it.

In the first photo, the sun is high because the crosses cast their shadows on the plank placed at the head of the tombs. The men walking next to the bunker barely cast a shadow, it must be noon.

Where Obergefreiter Fritz Karlscheuer (fallen on April 6, 1941) will be buried?

"I once had a comrade". Photos of graves of German soldiers.

Perhaps the clue lies in discovering which army is the uniform of the soldier who is burying him. It doesn't seem easy....

    Hi Santi.

This looks like the correct information and you can see the name 'Fritz' has been crossed out on the casualty card (Fritz is often a shortened version of Friedrich). It appears that 'Fritz' died in Yugoslavia (Bulgaria), so I guess there could be a number of different countries the soldier with the spade could be from.

    Name: Peter-Friedrich Kalscheuer
    Rank: Obergefreiter
    Birth Date: 21 June 1915
    Birth Place: Hilden, North Rhine-Westphalia
Military Unit: 8./Batterie Flak Regtiment 24 (Mot)
    Death Date: 7 April 1941
Death Place: Petritsch (Nevo Selo/ Yugoslavia on the Volksbund)

His cause of death is noted as im Lazarett verstorben: Artillerievolltreffer (Died in hospital: Direct artillery hit)

Peter Kalscheuer is buried in the military cemetery in Petric, Bulgaria.
    Endgrablage: auf diesem Friedhof
