And if someone wonders what is the secret of those perfect burial mounds on the soldier's grave, this simple wooden mold with handles for two men to place and remove, is the answer.
Every hospital had a cemetery next to it, where all the sick and wounded who did not overcome their injuries were buried. Some were remembered by the nurses who took care of them.

Of course, the bodies of the fallen enemies were also buried. Here is a picture of two German soldiers marking the grave of a Russian soldier they just buried.
I have left for the end a group of three photographs of my collection that I bought three or four years ago.
Two are taken after burying some comrades, they look like many other photographs, it's true.

But the last of all is from the comrades of the dead soldier making the cross with two birch branches.

I get the feeling that he must be a very dear friend.
Maybe, when they buried his body everyone sang deeply sad: Ich hatt einen Kameraden....
