Hey , i have found this dogtag a couple of years ago with my metal detector . It is a is dogtag made by the US grave registration service. It is from a fallen german soldier . They made the tag and put it on the wooden cross where he was buried . After the war they repatriated it to a permanently cemetery and they burned all the wooden cross with the tag on it . Normaly they only put the word german on it and not the regiment . This one is one of a kind and has the regiment on it from the german soldier . Now i wanna know if someone can help me to reqonize what unit /regiment this german soldier fight with .

This is wat the tags says:
    Enemy dead
    STM.KOMP.PT.ERS.2
    2473
    GRS B-166

Someone know what Stm and all the other words mean or wich unit it is ?
Grs is standing for grave registration service

This graves registration tag was for a soldier in the Stamm Kompanie of Pioniere Ersatz Kompanie 2. The 2473 is his roll number, GRS B-166 is the letter and number of the grave in this cemetery.

You could try sending an email to : usarmy.knox.hrc.mbx.foia@mail.mil

State that you wish to make a Freedom of Information request for an IDPF, individual deceased personnel file for B166 an enemy soldier buried in Belgium. It's possible they can name him.

I will add that given the fact that this unit was formed in 1939 in Stettin, Podejuch what is now part of Poland I would say there is a good chance this fallen soul came from this part of Germany east of the Oder.
