Default Help with Identifying British Soldier

    Hey all,

I'm wondering whether there is anyone on this forum who might be able to help me find some information for a British soldier who served in WW2, specifically my great grandfather.

    I have Albert Mervyn Carey's:

    Soldier Number
    DOB
Date of Death (he didn't die during the war)
His Service Branch: Royal Horse Artillery
    His Division: 7th Armoured Divison

However, I cannot seem to find any of his records anywhere I also have his soldier's pay book which tells me he enlisted on the 1st of April, 1940 but I just cannot find anything about his service. He never spoke of the war, in fact he refused to do so. Which has meant that very little is known by anyone in my family.

It'd be great to hear from the forum to see if anyone could possibly help me...

    Thanks in advance,

    - Gumrum

You may have to apply to the Army personnel records office, based in Glasgow, though it could take some time
