Default Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Bromley Jenkins

    Hi

I am currently doing some research into the former occupants of my house and I was looking through the copies of the deeds and I came across a Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Bromley Jenkins.
After doing some searching I found that during World War One, he possibly served with the Gordon Highlanders, though without the use of Ancestry (run out of credits) I cant confirm this. So I would be most grateful if someone could find anything more to about this gentleman.

    Many Thanks

Default Brigadier Malcolm Bromley Jenkins DSO

    Hi

    A bit of a update....

It turns out that he in fact didn't serve in World War One as he was born in 1909 (could a moderator kindly move it to the correct sub forum?). But here is some interesting aspects of his service carrier:

Commissioned into the North Staffordshire regiment in January 1931.

Married his wife in Trimulgherry, Indian Subcontinent in 1937.

Promoted to Captain in North Staffordshire on 1/8/1938 - in March 1939 serving as adjutant to the 6th (Territorial) Battalion, based in Burton.

During the Normandy campaign, he commanded a battalion of the South Staffordshire regiment.

From the 18/2/44, he commanded 1/4th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. (This battalion was involved in heavy fighting around Arnhem, and they were eventually ordered to take Arnhem its self.)

Awarded the DSO and was gazetted in 1946.

Went on to serve until 1960, ending his military career as a Col. (Hon. Brig.).

Though I am still trying to work out which medals he would have been awarded. The ones I think he would have been awarded are:

    DSO

India General Service Medal 1936 -1939

    1939-1945 Star

    France and Germany Star

    Defense Medal

    1939-1945 British War Medal

I would really appreciate it if someone could help find what other medals or awards he would have been awarded.

    Thanks

    Cameron

    Hi

I thought that would be the case. Im guessing there would have been an official photograph taken after it was awarded?
