I have recently discovered that a relative of mine was in the navy in WWII, in the pacific. I have researched into my relatives that were in the army (I had their uniforms) but I cannot find anything for navy sailors and I don’t have a starting point because I do not have his uniform. It was cut up and made into blankets years before I was born. He was my great grandfather and I can’t let his sacrifices go forgotten. His name was Willard John Goodman. He was born January 5th 1909 and passed away January 11th 1993 at 84. Any help would mean the world to me and my family members. Thank you!

Sounds like he might have had some sort of deferment with an enlistment date that late. Sounds like he was a carpenter, might have had some sort of job that was vital to the war effort.
