Re: Hj m4/23
Not an expert, but looks like a good, nice piece by Franke & Co., Ludenscheid to me. Of course, wait for David, Rob or others to comment to be sure Looks like the verdigris on the reverse would clean off nicely by scraping with a soft wooden toothpick to start, and then some mild soap with a soft toothbrush. This is, of course, if "cleaning-up" appeals to you. Personally, this is the type of buckle with which I would feel comfortable and satisfied doing this.
Best,
Adam

Nice buckle Jock and one of the earlier ones, love the large RZM, gives these buckles real character

Re: Hj m4/23
Cheers Guys,
It was with a lot of junk so I was not sure (a mock up NATPOLA uniform all wrong) even the belt it was on was a trimed down post war police or firebrigade.
Spot of luck again then!
Thanks again.

Re: Hj m4/23
A good looking HJ by Dr. Franke und Cie. KG., Lüdenscheid.
The wide span, brazed on and slightly leaning forward brass catch is so redolent of Franke.
In addition, this is not the only style and layout of markings to be found on a nickle silver Franke.

David
