Well it has been a while since I posted a new buckle. But I recently found this Friedrich Orth HJ buckle in nice condition and for a good price. This is an Austrian maker I looked around for and never found, except for the one Kenny found and he bought it before I saw it . Aluminum buckle with a bit of wear, but nice detail. A small scratch on the "9" but it's there. I compared it closely to a few other examples etc.

Great find ! IMO, it is better to have one example than none, the bonus is that if you find another in better condition you can upgrade, hope all has been well !! G

Thanks G. Doubt I'll ever upgrade as this maker is not an easy one to find, I'm happy with this one overall. I searched for Friedrich Orth on the Forum, and this Viennese company was a rather prolific maker of EKs, medals, awards etc. But the only buckle I could locate was the HJ buckle - interesting.

I now have the following Austrian HJ buckles. And from the HJ Maker thread these are the majority, if not all of the Austrian makers. If I missed any you all let me know.

    M4/93 Lenkwerk Brüder Schneider, Wien
    M4/97 Friedrich Orth, Wien
M4/101 Dominik Schönbaumsfelds & Sohn, Wien
    M4/103 Rudolf Schanes, Wien

Interestingly, seems Friedrich Orth is still an active company in Vienna, a Metalwerks company making awards and trophies .

Thanks Kenny. Yes, I looked at your example again and was reminded of the backwards "R". Very interesting. . Glad to find this maker, was on my 'hit list' for a long time.

Jeff, when time permits, would it be possible for a closer photograph of the RZM mark for future reference ? G

OK G. Not an easy picture to get, and the RZM stamp on this aluminum buckle is not the cleanest. Here are a few pics.
