Don't be misled into believing all post war assembled "Scout" knives would have a lipped scabbard. The early post war production was still using left over HJ parts for a period until it was needed to manufacture replacements. In the Jim Atwood biography by Kenneth Alford, page 111 it mentions Atwood was told by one Solingen manufacturer around 1961 "that he had enough original parts to complete 10,000 Hitler Youth knives and 2,000 RAD daggers. Since it was forbidden by law to complete such pieces with the swastika, he had salvaged the blades and other parts and was planning on using them to make hunting knives and Bowie knives for sale in the US and Canada."
