Latest HJ knife "fake-tique" from IMALatest HJ knife "fake-tique" from IMA

The dealers IMA are continuing to mix sale of authentic militaria with replicas and also modified authentic pieces. Their latest offering is an HJ knife they have commissioned (according to their website) and claim to be a much better replica than most. It is quite good, but the rounded tip blade is off. What is surprising is the inclusion of a partial Eickhorn etched logo on the blade. This trademark is still used by the resurrected Eickhorn company so I would think the use here is probably a copyright breach. The full "Eickhorn" name is not etched presumably to dodge the potential legal issue. To be clear here, this is not made by Eickhorn.

Is this knife a help or problem for collectors? I have no doubt to a novice, one of these replicas, with a bit of age and patina, could fool someone into thinking it was an authentic Eickhorn. In five years time there could well be examples being posted on this forum. But the partial etched maker name is a good clue that it's not the real thing, as is the round tip blade. As always, for collectors of the authentic, "buyer beware".

Although the website is as Anderson states being mostly replicas .... for the novice it would easily fool if buying for the first time seeing this exact same knife on a renown dealer site.

Something that needs to be made aware of ..and hopefully no one in the future gets duped.
That HJ knife is close but with some obvious wrong details..not close enough.

    Thanks for posting Anderson
