    Default Artillery short sword??

    Hello,

I was wondering if somebody can identify this sword... I saw it in an auction and caught my eye. It definitely is German made... but for the German artillery or for another country?

It appears very solid and well made. The WKC logo seems to identify it as an early 1900’s sword or WW1. The brass and wood handle looks to be in very good condition and still retains its black washer. The leather scabbard and brass fittings also tell me it’s an early sword.

I’ve searched the web for this exact model but came up empty.

I agree with your suggested era, could well be an Police export sword. WKC exported many swords to South Amercia. Hilt is similar to the the Prussian M1818 infantry sabre.

Hi Anderson... thank you for the reply.

Yes, I also was comparing it to the M1818 infantry sword and there’s a few similarities. I’m assuming this one was an export... not sure which country though. You’re also right about South America contracting German companies for guns, swords, and bayonets.
