    Big Bertha is here!
    And it is a twin.
Couldn't wait to make a pic when they arrived.
I'll make better one's today, of those two 38cm SK L/45 Max.
Rescued from a cellar, where they have been sitting all those years, waiting for Indiana Jones to rescue them. ;-)

Very nice... the largest I have is a January 1918 dated German 22cm howitzer case. I got it from an antique shop several years ago, they didn't know it was a shell case and thought it was an old umbrella stand.

    Thanks Steve.
Just noticed, while cleaning them, they aren't twins...the one is a Polte Magdeburg, the other one a Patronenfabric Karslruhe.

I've never come across any of that size for sale before. I haggled with the seller for mine, and eventually got the price down to £20... then I told her what it really was!

They would make a great couple of coffee tables once they are cleaned.
A friend of mine had some luck finding shell casing at a local metal recycler.
He has gotten 5 or 6 with two being German WWI casings, had to trade equal value of scrap for them.
I thought this might be useful informations for other shell collectors.

Imagine my wife just proposed, if we keep both and they are to heavy to get up stairs (in my study), lets put a glass plate on top and use it as a diner table...
She get the hang of it
