Hi, I have this Erkennungsmarke that reads:
Fritz Wetjen
Stedorf KR. Verden Aller.
21.4.77
I.ERS.BATL. J.R.25 (the 5 seems to be stamped on top of a 8)
ARM.BATL. 44 4.K.
4 /175
What is you opinion on this one? Real or repro?

I found out that Fritz Wetjen from Stedorf a/d Aller did actually exist: * 1877-04-21 † 1960-03-01.
I think it is original, with original cord as well. He wasn't listed as being wounded during the war.
It´a good one !
Thanks! You checked the 'Verlustenlisten'?
Fritz Wetten was a 'Halbmeier', according to a notification in a local paper from 1920. Google translated that as follows: In the agricultural history of north-west Germany, a serf peasant who was second in the village hierarchy was referred to as a Halbspänner or Halbmeier.
