A completely original model 1889 infantry officer's degen. It has some differences from the Colonial "Deutscher Schutztruppen" sword, such as no imperial crown pommel. The cypher looks fine. My Eickhorn catalogue from 1908 shows what I believe could be the model and interestingly refers to it as "East Asia", perhaps indicating China. Remember 1900 the Boxer Rebellion, European powers had military forces in China to protect foreign nationals and interests. Perhaps this is the connection.
The sword blade looks like it's been shortened a little, not unusual as short officers needed a shorter blade length. The twin ring scabbard would suggest pre-1906, so it might just be for "ostasiatische Besatzungs-Brigade", perhaps?
Thank you,Anderson. You always provide useful informations.
It is a rare sword,Anderson ?
Probably rarer than the regular infantry officer sword.
