    Is it a WWI german backpack? Because I didn't find same.
    And do the small straps belong to the bag? They has the same brown patent like the bag.
    Anyway there were more leather bags in the bag, but they are different.

    I wish I could help you but I have no experience at all with these.

    It is the correct pattern (from what I see), but I believe these packs were used well past the end of the war (SA, HJ). Usually there is a maker's stamp inside and are sometimes dated. I've seen them in tan, grey, black. The small straps are either for the overcoat or the mess kit (there is a set for each).
