    Thank you, half my family is hessian the other half Silesia! Sadly dont have anything from my Silesian family except pictures as medals and uniforms weren’t high on the to pack list when they had to flee.

    This is true. Fortunately my dad carried his dad's medals out of East Prussia late 1944.
