    Jamie,

Very nice looking certificate, and to have an example of the medal with it is great. I would presume the holes on the side indicate that this was in a Soldiers personnel file at one time? I will have to ask my wife if she has any of her great-grandfathers certificates from WW1. At one time her mother had some in a box that she showed me nearly 30 years ago, so I will have to revisit our conversation..

No. The award certificate was presented to the awardee, not put in his personnel file. Either the awardee kept it in a file folder or some later owner did at some point during the past 100 years.

Yeah the holes are either the Soldiers doing or, as I've been told was sometimes common in the 70s and 80s, people liked to keep items in binders. It's a mystery ha ha, it's done now anyway.

    Cheers

Nice find. That certificate is much more rare than the award itself.
