    I recently added a few more WW1 period post cards to the collection.

    The first one is a studio portrait of a soldier of the Landwerh Battalion 101.

    I find this image quite poignant with a certain sadness in the subjects eyes. There is nothing written on the back which leads me to wonder if perhaps the soldier was KIA before the card was ever posted??

    Hi Andy,

    I should imagine he was from Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 101. This Saxon regiment was formed at mobilisation in Bautzen and Zittau. Nice photo.

    thank you for the correction. I was close. they must have been a bugger in combat in the trenches?
