    Hello,

    I wanna share a special story and the reason why I started collecting with all of you.
    My grandma's uncle Jacob Vonberg was a german soldier in ww1( thats what i'm told but not sure can you tell?) His son Winand (my grand grand nephew)served with the panzergrenadiers wehrmacht in ww2 and got killed 7 april 1944 in Minzatesti Moldavië. He got a fieldgrave and never got identified.. so he never came home.
    Jacob always said to my grand grand dad ; Hitler will destroy Germany, mark my words.
    And yes, he did and lost his son aswell. So enough reasons for me to remember both.

    Can you tell more about the uniform Jacob is wearing? Unfortunately they are not very sharp but will update dome pics in daylight tomorrow.

    Notice the little boy on the picture next to Jacob.. that is Winand.

    Cheers

    From what I can see in the photos, I would place him in one of these regiments;
    Dragoner-Regt. König Karl I von Rumänien (1.Hannoversches ) Nr.9 (Metz) XVI Armee Korps
    Dragoner-Regt. König Albert von Sachsen (Ostpreußisches ) Nr.10 (Allenstein) XX Armee Korps
    Dragoner-Regt. Königin Olga (1. Württembergisches) Nr.25 (Ludwigsburg) XIII Armee Korps
    With Dragoon Regiment 10 being my first pick. The band and piping on the cap appear to be white, while the state cockade looks to be black-white-black (Prussia). His uniforms are more in keeping with those of a Dragoon, than any of the other mounted branches. In the photo with the cap he is also wearing a sword. In that photo his rank appears to be that of an Interoffizier, in the photo with the children he looks to be a Sergeant. Hope this is of help. Too bad the photo with the children isn't clearer, to see what his shoulder strap looks like.
