Hi William,
#1 and #2, I'm sure you recognize.
I just spent the better part of an hour trying to find #3 and #4.--- no luck.
I do not think that they are military. I believe they are civil awards or commemorative.
I searched all of the military ribbon databases I could think of and found nothing.
Good luck in your search.

well that makes two of us as yes I searched high and low for the last two and couldn't find anything like them. I believe the 3rd medal may be Saxon but not entirely sure. At any rate thanks for trying!

For the last one, all I found is that it is memorial medal for Bavarian king Ludwig II, But the ones I am finding have a red ribbon. and that is all the info it gave.
Unknown German medal Ludwig II Koenig V Bayern 25.8.1845-13.6.1886 | #306235196
and here in case that link goes bad.
I'll look some more.

I agree with Greg. They are not military decorations. Most likely commemorative.
But as far as King Ludwig of Bavaria is concerned, I am almost certain that another member of the forum published a thread about it three or four months ago. I think I remembered that it was something like that to hang from a bottle of wine or liquor...

WOW!
Phil you're too fast for me!
You guys are good.
I was concentrating more on the ribbon and less on the medal.
It's amazing how lighting and angle make such a difference in the look
of the faces on the Ludwig medal.

The colors of ribbon 3 are, of course, typical of Saxony Altenburg. Maybe they are of some civil reward. I do not know
Militär-Dienstauszeichnung Schnalle 3. Klasse Chiffre JFE
I have this little book a few years ago and I consider it very complete. In it, ribbon number 3 does not appear.
