Two photos showing slightly different angles of a crashed Albatros B.III The Albatros B.III was an unarmed reconnaissance two-seater used by the Kaiserliche Marine and Luftstreitkräfte. I have not been able to find hardly any information about this specific incident or their use in general probably due to it being a recon plane and not a fighter plane. Michael Sharpe writes in his book that the B.III was used by Jasta 11, Jasta Boelcke, and Fliegerersatzabteilung Nr.1 (FEA 1).
The reverse marks this crashed (Albatros BIII/15) “Viktoria Adelheid” on 10/III.18 at B??leben

    Great photos. Love biplanes.

Must have tipped over while landing. Wonder why the guys are crawling up the tail? Counterweight? To help tip it back?

I think so Michael. Any mechanical tugging would have broken the tubular steel framework. Hope they held on, a third photo could have been amusing...

Landing on what looks like soft wet soil would have caused the wheels to sink and a rapid halt.
