Default Prussia... 1914-1918 Issue War Rememberance Cross (Kriegserinnerungskreuz für Kämpfer)

I recently added this nice example to my Imperial collection.
It is in excellent condition, just missing the ribbon.

"This cross was made by the Association of Prussian War Participants in the German Veteran Association 1914 - 1918 e. V., donated for the combatants of the 1st World War. This cross was given with and without swords. For particularly deserving members, a plug-in cross was also donated as a 1st class cross of honor. Since there were no medals or commemorative awards in the Weimar Republic that commemorated the World War, numerous Veteran and soldier associations donated their own awards. Such crosses were donated by various regional Veteran Associations in the Weimar Republic for their members in the appropriate colors and coats of arms. Although the crosses were given out by the clubs, they usually had to be paid for themselves.

Silver-plated cross made of non-ferrous metal. The cross arms are enamelled white and bordered in silver. On the edge a wide black enamelled edge. Front and back with applied, enamelled medallion. 2 silver-plated, crossed swords go through the middle. On the upper arm of the cross there is an arched segment with an eyelet and a band ring and, enamelled central shield with a Prussian eagle with a hollow breast shield on a white background
Surrounded by a black enamelled ring with gold-plated writing:
    - PRUSSIA - BRAVE - WARRIORS - and oak leaves gilded edge.
    Back:

Round, white enamelled center plate with gold-plated years 1914 - 1918 separated by a horizontal line
Surrounded by a black enamelled ring with gold-plated writing:
    - PRUSSIAN - WAR - MEMORIAL - CROSS -
Silver-plated oak leaves on the upper arm of the cross.
On the left arm of the cross, the inscription: - WELT - is silvered.
The writing - WAR - is silvered on the right cross arm.
Silver-plated oak leaves on the lower cross arm.
    Tape:

white 23 mm wide, border black 1 mm, side stripes white / black 3 mm / 2 mm, central stripe black 0.5 mm."

Copied, and translated from this site.

    Thanks Michael!
My interest in these early, enameled awards seems to be growing.

I can see why. I keep saying I'm going to make the leap in this area as well, but stuff always gets in the way. The variety of awards is also a bit overwhelming too.

Agreed. That's why I am taking it slow.
Plus, some are quite expensive as well.

    Michael,
That is IMO the the top of the heap when talking about
    Imperial enamel. Beautiful and expensive.

    Ralph,
That is a nice cross that you found.
Be careful--Imperial enamel is a sure way of spending lots of money.
I have just a very few common miniature pieces and and even they were not cheap.
