SHS Scharnhorst

Picked up this silk, I guess cross switch of the SHS Scharnhorst. Never seen one before. It is faded and a lot of the silk lines have seen better day but it
took hours on hours to create this piece. The pictures shows what the colors would have looked like when they were not faded! Let me know what you think. LW

That is very cool, probably a patriotic item that crew members would send to their family.

I believe it is appliqué work, rather than cross-stitch;
Hand-painted onto the silk backing, then quilted and detailed using a variety of techniques, including cross- and chain-stitching.
Certainly, a lot of work and a fine result!

Thanks guys. It is faded but the detail is outstanding. Wish it had been taken better care of! Just lucky to have it!
