Two small Totenkopfs .

Hello.
New addition of a small Schulterklappenauflagen collection, including two small skulls.
The one is a Assmann Wehrwolf collar tab skull, but the other one is unknown for me.
If someone knows something, please let me know here.

Interesting, The Wehrwolf skull is one that you don't see often, and it looks authentic from the low res photos provided. I can't make out the other one. I assume these are the photos you got from the seller? Please show some more when the collection has arrived. I would personally remove all of them from the Styrofoam. I've read that this could damage them over time...

Hello.
The skulls arrived today.
The Assmann-Wehrwolf looks ok for me.
The other skull is the big questions mark.
Has closed eyes and nose.
IMO looks more as a skull for a photo album as for cap or collar tabs.
If anyone knows anything, please share it with us.
Every opinion and comment is welcome.

The first one is an original early skull made by F.W. Assmann & Sohn that was used among others by the Wehrwolf from 1923-1933. A very nice example with most of the finish and both pins. Rare piece! A sample board and my own example on the right side for comparison. The older photo is not great unfortunately...

The second one looks to be a reproduction... It has a lot of similarities with the one on the book from Robin Lumsden, A Collector's Guide To: The Algemeine-SS.

A few more of these examples can be found on this forum, Posted by Aldo and Carllson. I have the other variant of this smaller collar tab skull that has some small differences.

To give you an idea, Look at the curved teeth. The sutures on the right side and with the distinctive line on the 2nd cross bone on the right side. The eye cavity shape is also identical, with the right one a bit more tilted. These points can all be found back on your example. I will keep the giant blob of solder aside, but the front and back side shows some casting indications in the corners and on the edges.

I agree with Dos.

Second TK is a KR5 shoulder strap TK.

These were gilded for officers.

The originality of this one is debatable, but I wouldn't rule anything out as the rest of the group looks fine.

I never cease to be amazed at all the unusual variants of these things out there.

I agree, there is also a possibility that it could be a repro.
Another possibility,because the teeth are not formed correctly, closed eyes and nose, look cheap made, maybe is made for another purpose e.g. for a photo album or for a souvenir.
In any case, stay in my collection.
The week was my lucky week, I added four more skulls.
A pair in very good condition Assmann-Wehrwolf and two other early skulls.
When I have received it, I will better photos upload it here.
