    It appeares to be an S98/02 model,they were produced between 1902-1905.....Pete.

    I believe that is just an inspector`s mark.

    It's a S1898/05 pattern "a.A." meaning it has the "high ears" muzzle guide, so an early model. I can't quite see from photos if it has a flashguard, which if so, would date it to from 1915. But probably without and pre-World War 1.
    It does have an Imperial era fraktur mark (State inspector) but curiously no State acceptance stamp on the blade spine, which suggests a private purchase version (popular with NCOs). The black painted steel scabbard also suggests "walking out" type use, and steel scabbards with this bayonet date also from 1915.
    It's a nice tidy example that hasn't been excessively cleaned, as is often the case.

    I would think the bayonet when made was matched to a leather/steel scabbard and the one it's now paired with was acquired later, perhaps during WW1.

    That is a nice one. Great find. Love sawbacks.
    From the 4th pic down when zoomed in , It looks like it does not have the flash guard.
