Here's an interesting Imperial Russian issue shashka with a 34” (870mm) military blade dated 1904 with circular Zlatoust and eagle maker stamp on one side of the ricasso, the other marked with crowned “A” and “A” stamps, “42” as well as weapon number “984” and what I presume is the unit designation in Cyrillic “15 Dr P” for the 15th Peryeyaslavskii Emperor Alexander III Dragoon Regiment. Traditional Cossack style, double riveted wooden grip and a simple, flat oval guard. Wooden scabbard with brass fittings, double ring bands (upper with matching weapon number
“984“ and throat piece with “A” stamp. Overall length 40”
A friend picked this up from a USAAF veteran's estate collection of German and other swords, bayonets, and a dagger.
