    Does anyone know about Imperial Russian purchase from France of French M1874 rifles and bayonets at the start of the First War World?

    No takers? The reason I floated the question is I've heard of a M1874 Gras bayonet, French manufactured with Russian Imperial markings. Elsewhere someone suggested the Russians where short of rifles at the beginning of WW1 and purchased from France Gras rifles with bayonets that the French had in storage. Plausible?
