    Hello,

I'm a relative newbie, in my opinion it's probably a bogus ISA Berg Nolte, but I'd like to know the opinion of the experts. Thanks for any suggestions

What makes you think it's a Berg & Nolte?

In Sasha Weber's ISA book, only Berg & Nolte is pictured with this needle hook, no other manufacturer's grip is even remotely similar.

The obverse features are quite different from the few badges I've looked at. Hopefully member Fischer will see this thread and be able to comment.
That said, there seems to be an awful lot of pitting and areas on the reverse where it seems a little rough.

Thanks Ralph, I'll use German terminology next time. Your infantry sturmabzeichen has a different pin catch and a larger hinge and the obverse details are also different, they match the infantry sturmabzeichen Hermann Wernstein, so I am confused about this decoration and am unsure of the authenticity due to these inconsistencies.

The catch looks the same to me, my example has a sheet metal hinge, and yours has a block hinge. There are about four variants from this maker.
Wernstein has a completely different catch.

    Hello,

Most are familiar with the Hermann Wernstein set-up having the oversized Block Hinge and Flat Stock Catch as seen on the Wernstein, Jena DRL badges.

The ISA Luk24 shows is correct and the Wernstein with a smaller Block Hinge and Round Wire Catch is a lesser known variant.

Hardware set-ups on the Wernstein examples were inserted into stamped recesses in the reverse and then soldered in place...much like the Berg & Nolte solid variant.

Here is my example to compare.

And here is the more familiar hardware set-up for this variant.
