How were these 4th Indian Division slip-ons worn?

These are different than the slip-on's that I am used to seeing. Instead of the entire piece being made to slip over the epaulet, it has a tab at the top and a button hole at the bottom. Were these worn attached to the epaulet but draped over the outside of the shoulder and held down by a button sewn on the upper sleeve?

Anyone have pictures of this type of slip-on being worn?
