Radio Operators Badge? When was this in use?

Hi Forum,

I think this is a radio operators badge, British army. I was wondering if anybody knows when this was in use, and if it was used exclusively by the R. Signals or other units?

I think its wartime i have also seen these worn by radio operators in tank crews
