Are these WW2 U.S. medals ?

hi,
i am still learning . i think these are U.S. medals.
are they ?
and which medals are they ?
the round one is white and maroon with gold.
the blue one say's "I'll Face You"

I would venture to say these are more unit crests than medals. I don't have a book to research these or I would provide you more info. Perhaps another member can assist.

we have no idea what they are at this point.( we are new to this)our grandfather was in Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 399th Infantry regiment we are trying to determine what we have. some U.S. and some German.and what these mean. we will keep looking and any more information from anyone would be great .

Not medals but called "Distinctive Unit Insignia". Worn on the lower lapels of the jacket by enlisted men and by Officers on the shoulder straps. There are thousands of different designs of these.

Your DI'S can be traced with the help of someone who is a member of ASMIC thay have all the books on this kind of stuff.If you go one line you may turn up something on them.Good Luck Darrell

Insignia like these made during WW2 and before usually have a screw and nut mounting system. Later ones had a safety pin type fasting system but since WW2 all use the pin and clasp type.
Hundreds of military units were formed for the war and then disbanded. I have some I can't identify too.

The round one is a divisional insignia for I Corps. ( 1st corps. )

The other one may well be the 399th Infantry regiment !
As Adrian mentioned, there were thousands of unit DI's.

Contacting someone online, as suggested above, at ASMIC -
"American Society of Medals and Insignia Collectors" is your best bet...............

I've just been on e-bay, where a DI is up for sale the same as the one
pictured on the right. It is quoted as the 142nd Infantry Regiment of
the 36th Division...............

Must be fairly rare, because while I was looking, the price was at $53.00 US ! !
