US Army or Marine flag?

Hi all, can anybody please identify this flag and what period it may be from based on the construction?

Size is 2m x 1.5m.

isn't it a US flag for displaying outside how many sons in service? not sure?

It's quite a large flag and it looks like it is one to be flown outside, the rope is surrounding a metal ring at one end. It is also re-inforced at those hoist corners.

It is a Major Generals Flag (2 Star) for the US Marine Corps. Based on the hoist and reinforcement on the runner I would say it was intended for outdoor use.

I would suspect that the maker's manufacturing tag is sewn inside the hoist side at either the top or bottom, since I have not seen this type of construction, I am more versed on US Army Flags..
