Gael,
I have reservations about this being a WW2 era insignia.. The different color threading on the back has me a little concerned.. It may just be a manufacturers variant with different color threads but I have never seen one like this before..
I'm not at home right now so I can't look at the backside of my original 13th ABN patch, but I don't recall this color pattern.. I also believe I have a purple back version but again I can't recall if it is on one of my 13th or if the purple back version is on another airborne patch...
Phil Lockett is one of our resident experts on these type of patches so I will defer to his expertise and hopefully he will add his knowledge..
Best regards, stay safe

Hi Gael
Your 13th is WWII Era.
It standard cut edge embroidered on a green twill.
The colored return thread was used when supplier exhausted white thread.
Collectors think it's special because it uses a different color return thread, not the case again it was used with no special meaning as part of the embroidery process.

I agree, this is a classic 13th Airborne patch. The patch was made period. Some people get excited about the return threads. Technically, the purple is much harder to find and some people collect just the purple back patches. Others collect greenbacks, black backs and there are a couple "rainbow" backs.
