Here's a look at some WWII US pilot wings. These are all the 3 inch type
which were worn on Officer's service uniform jackets.........

A common WWII pilot wing by a common maker. A simple but beautiful
design, known as the 'Adams' or 'slick' pattern which
    originated in the 1920's.

The maker is 'N.S. Meyer, New York', and it's also Sterling marked.
Typical for Meyer wings, is the Meyer shield logo
    and 80 degree pin.

Post-war Senior pilot wing - clutch back - non sterling. The most interesting
thing about this wing is that it was produced in Germany after
    the war by 'Assman'.........

Rare theater-made pilot wing by 'F&S' which is 'Firmin & Sons, London'.
From the hallmarks, I believe this wing dates to 1943
    ( Thanks Ade ! ).........

First and second pattern ( top ) wings in sterling, marked 'LGB' - which is for
L.G. Balfour. This company also made High School rings, but they went
out of business in the late 1970's.

The second pattern wing was found in an Illinois backyard
    by medal detector.........
