Article about: I'm looking to purchase a tunic, and I've been looking at this one. I'm curious about a 1937 date on a tunic with a collar (type 98?).

    Yes is a Type 5 tunic in 1938 was sobstitute with type 98, size in 4, many of this tunic had coller post after i think for the use of type 98 rank insignia

    That would mainly have been worn by a discharged vet. The Type 98 likely appeared in service while he still served in the army, so the army must have been generous in letting him leave service in his old uniform, which he got modified for the vet gatherings.
