Another old pay book 1941
Article about: Hi people. I have recently bought another old japanese paybook. It belonged to Katsumori Kato. He was born in Hokkaido on November 12, 1918. At first, I thought he was an infantry man, but t

He was a military dog and pigeon specialist. He got promoted in the end simply because he was KIA.

Hi Nick.
How courious. He was a dog and pigeon specialist.
In this case, there is nothing written in the column telling us he was KIA.
I guess he served in China. There is any explanation about his death? Place or circunstances?
I guess the pic inside was placed there later, because アロネロス (Aloneros Philippines) was not invaded until 1942.
Thank you very much.

No, I cannot help further with low quality photos like that.

The death entry is right before his promotion entry, last page of the history section. He was indeed in China, in the 27th Independent Infantry Battalion. He started out with the 25th Infantry Regiment, 7th Division in 1939. The dog/bird specialty is not a common entry to see. Interesting booklet, thanks for sharing.

Hi Nick.
Sorry for my pics. My best phone has reciently died, so I am using an old phone to take the pics. But as always, thank you for your help.
Thank you Tomp. I will try to discover what happened to this guy. Interesting information.

Phones are totally unsuitable for showing printed matter that needs sharp focus, not to give readers a headache. You need to buy a camera, if you expect continued help on this forum. All your past photos were equally unfocused, so I typically could only read 30% without effort and the rest I ignore, because I do not want to strain my eyes. Next time, if I do not respond, you know why.

I always like to dig a little when something is of interest even if I don't always post it. Anyway, further to what Nick and Tom have already posted.
1. Mr. Katsumori was drafted into the 125th Infantry Regiment but began active duty in the 25th Infantry Regiment on May 1, 1939. Both regiments having been assigned to the Karafuto Mixed Brigade (Sakhalin Is) which first became active around May 11, 1939.
2. The 25th Regiment was dropped from the 7th Division in order to make it triangular (3 infantry regiments in an infantry group).
3. He transferred to the 4th Company, 27th Independent Infantry Battalion, 7th Independent Mixed Brigade.
4. As far as I can tell this is the date associated with his passing: May 29, 1941 戦死 battle death
P.S. I saw the auction, the pic that came with this Techo was of someone who served earlier than Mr. Katsumori, reason for thinking that, earlier uniform style.

Reason: Reminiscing about the auction.

Hi.
Thank you very much.
Sorry for the pics Nick. I will try to scan them next time.
In relation to the photo, if it was of someone who served earlier than Mr. Katsumori then how is it possible to be handwritten on the back an location in Philippines? Maybe a fake handwritten?
Here the photo:
