Clarification of Rank Insignia
Article about: Hello All, I was given a WWII era visor cap by an old friend of mine as a gift and was hoping to get some clarification on the correct information for the insignia. Obviously it is Navy but

That was the standard cap insignia for petty officers until Imperial Edict No.699 of 1942 was made effective on Nov 1, 1942, replacing the insignia with a more eleborate design similar to officer style but without the circle around the anchor.
