Dear fellow Japanese Military enthusiasts,
2016 was for me the year of the Japanese helmet, I sort of became addicted to them.
Here is an early Japanese Navy NLF helmet with an early pattern cover that may or may not have been used by the SNLF. I will first let the pictures do their thing, but there are a few questions I would like to put to our valued Japanese helmet experts.
The helmet was made at the Kobe Steel works as indicated by the 'S' in the Diamond.
Helmet with Cover.
Helmet without Cover.
Inside the Cover.
The Liner System.
Rivets.
My questions -
The badge is magnetic and I think being an early model, it should be made of 'Nickle' - is there a way to tell the difference between Nickle and Steel badges?
The helmet is stamped as 'Small' - very unusual for a Navy helmet, indicating it is probably a very early model. - any thoughts?
Any help with the writing on both the inside and outside of the liner or on the inside of the dome, would be much appreciated.
Thank you for viewing, your time and opinions.
Merry Christmas.
Neil
