Imperial Japanese Navy Breast Insignia?

Article about: Have this IJN Insignia. I have seen conflicting information as to what it is. But the closest I can figure is that it is a WWII IJN Landing Craft/Assualt Boat Pilot Breast Patch or Seaborne

Default Imperial Japanese Navy Breast Insignia?

Have this IJN Insignia. I have seen conflicting information as to what it is.

But the closest I can figure is that it is a WWII IJN Landing Craft/Assualt Boat Pilot Breast Patch or Seaborne EM/NCO Breast Badge

    Any thoughts?

    Regards,

    Michael

I was hoping for a naked Japanese cutie with a tattoo on her chest.

    Hi Micheal-san,

It's actually a badge for IJA Seaborne troop Brest Badge (NCO).

These badges were officially in used on 9th of May, 1944.

    Nice example.

    Cheers!

Steve: Now that would be nice but sorry. No dice!!

Taka: Thanks! Know if these are common? I've never seen another one. Had a couple of extra $$ in my pocket and picked it up last year.

Yes, they are very common, specially the EM/NCO ones.

    Like these:

I like you example, by the way.

Here is one bullion officer version. This one is not common at all.

Excellent. Thanks! Well the good news is that I spent MUCHO less than either of these prices. Under $20 but can't remember exactly.

Yes these are quite common & often on eBay. Some think they were strictly for landing craft operators. My opinion is the seaborne troopers were army sailors. Like a cross between merchant marine & army navy. I believe they delivered supplies & transported war materials

    Thanks Jareth!

For such a common badge, it's interesting there are still questions.

Hay MAP, Is there anything that you don't collect. And such a variety, from IJA insignia to WWII German late war plastic Spud Guns??

    Cheers MR
