Japanese Ammunition Crate
I looked for a long time before finding this. It's marked for T-99 LMG ammo (which can also be used in the 7.7 rifles). It held 840 rounds and a small piece of one of the 15 round box labels is still stuck in the pitch that was used to seal the seams and knots. 840 rounds translates to 56 15 round boxes of ammo like these pictured.
Very cool crate. Never seen one before. You definitely have a large collection of nice Japanese stuff I've never seen before. You could strap that on the back of your bike for a nice display.

Indeed, each spring we have a machine gun shoot here at the Kingman, AZ range. When the time comes I'll let y'all know about the details
Before I leave the subject of ammunition, here are two regulation updates for August 1944, which you might like to have. One is an update on crate markings originally issued in 1924. The other announces discontinuation of the practice of applying camo paint to ammo crates for resupply. They apparently took pains before to prevent ammo dumps from becoming too conspicuous to the enemy, but decided they could not afford such efforts any more.
