I do not imply anything, but I have seen those kind of flags so many times I do personaly doubt about theire originality.
Back in the 70' ties / 80 ties I never saw one, now I am back at the "militaria theater" I see them at every show....correct me if I am wrong!!
I know what you mean i too have seen lots but i got this from the vets family they told me it was a burma bringback , rgds Dave
Hi Dave, hopefully you will get a translation. What I do like about yours is the differences in the hand writing.
Hi Kris, would you believe these flags were first faked during the war! Many US "SeeBee" units actually faked them and sold them to other souvenir hungry members of the Navy or Air Force. The big give away on many of these is the Japanese script is really nonsense. I due think one of these would really be collectable in it's own right today though.
I do agree, these were rare to see at shows back in the 1970/'80's. But with the world opening up due to more International trade via the net, more of these can now be found, most coming from the USA. I think few British/Commonwealth, or Dutch soldiers etc got to bring these home. Although mine did come from a British soldier too.
Cheers, Ade.
Faire enough!!
